There are four species of eagle that can be found on Kodiak island with the bald eagle being the most common. These regal birds can be seen in high densities perched amongst the tree tops outlining numerous salmon streams, lakes and watersheds distributed throughout the island. Golden eagle sightings are occassional on Kodiak and least likely viewed are the stellar sea and white tailed eagles. It is not uncommon to see eagles lined along the shores of salmon plugged rivers and streams, feeding along side a plump bear and an inquisitive fox scavenging for left over scraps.
